On 9 September, 2026, the Handover Ceremony of the 13th and 14th Batch of Chinese Medical Teams was held at the Chinese Embassy in South Sudan. Hon. Chargé d'Affaires Huo Ying attended the event and addressed the attendees together with Hon. Luke Thompson Thoan, Minister of Health.

Hon. Huo Ying highly commended the 13th Team for their actions on enhancing South Sudan's medical service capacity and technical expertise, which have vividly embodied the vision of building a global community of health for all and live up to the fine reputation of the Chinese medical team. At the same time, the 14th Team members were encouraged to dedicate themselves to medical assistance with passion and commitment, to serve the overall cause of China-South Sudan friendly cooperation and write a new chapter of the bilateral friendship.

Under the witness of the attendees, Hon. Luke Thompson Thoan awarded the Honorary Certificates to the 13th Team members. Nearly 100 people, including the Counsellor of Chinese Embassy Li Wancheng, Col. Wen Haiyuan of Chinese Infantry Battalion to South Sudan, Chinese Medical Teams, representatives of Chinese enterprises in South Sudan, officials from relevant departments of South Sudan and staff of Juba Teaching Hospital, attended the event.
