On November 7, 2017, Ambassador He Xiangdong met with Hon. Onyoti Adigo Nyikwec, Minister of Agriculture and Food Security. Mr. Zhang Yi, Economic and Commercial Counsellor of the Embassy and senior officials from the Ministry were present at the meeting.

Minister Onyoti Adigo said that South Sudan attaches great importance to its cooperation and exchange with China in agriculture sector. With abundant rainfall, fertile land and great potential for agricultural development, South Sudan hopes to learn from China’s advanced technology and rich experience to develop its agriculture sector and strive to achieve food self-sufficiency.

Ambassador He pointed out that agriculture is a key industry concerning the national economy and people’s livelihood and an important part of the pragmatic cooperation between China and South Sudan. China is ready to step up cooperation with South Sudan in agriculture in order to promote its peace and stability.

They exchanged ideas on some agricultural cooperation projects.
